The Fire Tree

At nearly forty, Riyu has built her life around avoiding risk. It has kept her safe. It has also left her watching her own life pass by.

When she finally decides to take a chance, the journey ends in a place she cannot explain: a small fishing village called Laevelin, where she has no memory of who she is or how she got there. The villagers know her. An infuriating healer keeps trying to protect her. Her grandmother has answers she will not give. And the animals Riyu lost in her own world may not be lost at all.

Beyond the villages and familiar landscapes of the Inner World lies the Outer World, a land of dragons, dangerous trials, and a tree said to hold extraordinary power. To understand why she has returned — and what happened to the life she no longer remembers — Riyu must decide whether she is ready to risk the safety she once wanted so badly.

The Fire Tree is a portal fantasy about starting again as an adult, recovering the parts of yourself you left behind, and learning that courage is not the absence of fear.
