Maja Berden Zrimec
Maja Berden Zrimec is a Slovenian biologist and writer. Her scientific work focuses on algae, aquatic systems, and biotechnology; her fiction grows from the same lifelong interest in nature, animals, and the ways living things affect one another.
The Fire Tree began as a story about a woman who has become too cautious in her own life — and the animals, friends, and impossible worlds that draw her back into it. It is the first novel in the series. Maja is currently writing the second book, The Blue Heart.
